E3 2015 Press Conference Winners & Losers
Another year another E3, in total there were 8 press conferences. which also including Bethesda, who decided to throw their hat in the ring this year. So what were the highs and lows, the clear winners and losers of these years event, let’s take a look.
1.) The clear winner this year was the Sony’s Playstation press conference, They started right out of the gate with actual gameplay of “The Last Guardian”, a game that has become infamous among fans for it’s limbo. Playstation continued their momentum with a new IP ” Horizon: Zero Dawn” which not only did it look gorgeous but showed actual gameplay, all I have to say is “HOLY COW!”. There was also new gameplay of “No Man Sky“, once again it’s a big plus when a company shows actual gameplay instead of a CG trailer, kudos Sony. The two major news that came out of the press conference and their declaration of victory was the announcement “Shenmue 3” kickstarter, and of course the biggest news of the night was the “Final Fantasy 7“: Remake.
2.) Now as for the runners up, it was a close one but I will have to give it to Ubisoft, Aisha Tyler returned as host and I truly enjoy her commentary. I believe the big stand out of their press conference was South Park: The Fractured but Whole, For Honor, Ghost Recon: Wildlands, and Trackmania Turbo.
3.) For being their first press conference Bethesda did an excellent job showcasing their games, of course spotlighting what everybody was waiting for”Fallout 4“. Oh boy they did not disappoint, not only did they show gameplay of Fallout 4 but they also announce the release date (11/10/2015), a collectors PIP-Boy Edition, and a new mobile Fallout game “Fallout: Shelter” which was release on that very night.
4.) EA press conference was ok at best, all they had was a quick glimpse at “Mass Effect 4: Andromeda”, a beautiful heart warming game called “Unravel”, “Mirrors Edge: Catalyst“, and for some reason soccer legend Pele. But of courses the best part was the gameplay for the highly anticipated “Star Wars: Battlefront“, Oh My GOD! did it looked incredible and I just can’t wait to get it in my hands.
5.) XBox Press Conference wasn’t anything special, they only had two big announcements. The first one being their introduction of their backwards capability for the XBox One, the actual fact is that your system will read your XBox 360 game then it will download a digital version to your system. Second and the most mind blowing was the Hololens Holographic VR goggles, so the conference lasted close to 2 hours and that was it; oh wait there was also a blue car.
6.) Nintendo’s Digital Event, what the hell did I just see. It was funny and odd but they really didn’t show anything new or mind blowing, aside from their muppets skits.
7.) Square Enix press conference and the PC Gaming Show where nothing new or special, so that is why they are the days biggest losers; better luck next year.
So there you have it, until next year.
